Glow in the dark cockroach
Photograph of a new, light-mimicking cockroach Lucihormetica luckae in daylight and under fluorescent light. Notable are two luminescent lanterns and one minor asymmetrical lantern on the right side. The species is likely to be extinct — its only known habitat was destroyed by the eruption of Tungurahua in December 2010.
The luminescence may help the creature mimic a toxic click beetle and thereby avoid predators. I think it also looks like Wall-e’s girlfriend EVE.
And the little droid kidnappers from Star Wars, the Jawas.
