not snow

This is not snow, it is a rime frost. There has been freezing fog over England for the last few days which has cohered onto our Cypress tree rather beautifully I thought.

Here's a thing... I record atmospheric pressure on an irregular basis (I have a barometer! What else should I do with it?). Yesterday I recorded the highest pressure since my records began, 1037 millibars, 30.6 inches of mercury.

I wonder if a combination of very high pressure and cold causes the rime or hoar frost?
